- You like to keep things simple — you want an in-dash stereo that'll make your regular CDs sound great, bring in your favorite radio stations loud and clear, and let you plug in an MP3 player or other audio source when the mood strikes. If that's what you have in mind, JVC built the KD-G140 CD receiver just for you.
- A powerful built-in amp and a 24-bit digital-to-analog converter reside at the heart of the KD-G140, imparting a sense of realism and clarity to CDs that'll make listening a joy. The 3-band equalizer lets you trim the mids, highs, and lows to match your car's acoustics and your listening preferences.
- For convenience, plug your portable music player into the auxiliary input located on the front panel, then use the included wireless remote to adjust the sound while you drive. Add some extra punch to your system by connecting an amp or powered subwoofer to the set of preamp outputs.

- MOS-FET Amplifier: The JVC KD-G140 features a MOS-FET amplifier that is CEA-2006 compliant and rated at 20 watts RMS x 4 channels in 4-ohm and 1% THD+N with a signal to noise ratio of 80 dBA.
- CD Playback: The JVC KD-G140 will play back CD, CD-Text, CD-R and CD-RW music audio discs. This unit does not support MP3 or WMA file playback.
- Direct Track Access: You can directly access CD tracks 1-12 by pressing the station preset buttons. If a preset button is pressed for less than 1 second, the track corresponding to the number on the preset button is selected (for tracks 1-6). When a preset button is pressed for more than 1 second, the track corresponding to the number above the preset button is accessed (for tracks 7-12).
- Detachable Face: The unit features a detachable face to deter theft. The CD player does not come supplied with a face case.
- Preferred Setting Mode: By activating the Preferred Setting Mode (PSM), you can set the clock, choose the time zone and daylight saving time, select the dimmer mode, select the external component type (changer or line input), switch between US standard and European tuning spacing, set the Amplifier Gain control (high/low), and several other operational settings.
- Intelligent Equalizer (i-EQ): In addition to manual bass, midrange, and treble settings (-12dB to +12dB @ 60Hz, 1kHz and 7.5kHz), this unit also has six selectable preset tone control and Super Bass setting combinations. Each of the sound modes may be adjusted to your preference and stored in memory. The preset Intelligent Equalizer modes are:
- Bass Midrange Treble Loud
- Rock +03 00 +02 Off
- Classic +01 00 +03 Off
- Pops +02 +01 +02 Off
- Hip Hop +04 -02 +01 Off
- Jazz +03 00 +03 Off
- User (Flat) 00 00 00 Off
- Loud (Loudness): This feature boosts low and high frequencies to produce a well-balanced sound at a low volume level. You can turn this feature on or off.
- Amplifier Gain Control: When you are using the KD-G140 with factory speakers (or those rated to less than 50 watts peak), the Amplifier Gain Control can limit the amount of power being sent to those speakers. When the Amp Gain Control is set to "low," the volume control ranges from 0 (minimum) to 30 (maximum). When using speakers rated higher than 50 watts peak, you can set the Amp Gain Control to "high," and the volume control will range from 0 to 50.
- Preamp Output Mode: In the PSM menu, you can set the rear preamp outputs for connecting rear speakers (through an external amplifier) or for connecting a subwoofer (through an external amplifier). When set for rear speakers, the rear outputs operate with the unit's fader control. When set for subwoofer, the outputs are non-fading, and you can set the cutoff frequency of the low pass filter at 90Hz, 135Hz, or 180Hz. The subwoofer level can be set between 0 and 8.
- Front Panel Auxiliary Input: A front panel stereo minijack is provided to allow the connection of a portable audio source. Just connect your portable cassette, MD or MP3 player to this unit, and you can listen to the audio from the portable player through the speakers in your mobile audio system. The input level of the auxiliary input can be adjusted from 0 to 5.
- Clock Display: While playing a CD, you can switch between the clock display and the CD elapsed time display (the track number always appears). While listening to the radio you can switch between the clock display and the station frequency display. When you press the Display button during power off, the unit will turn on, display the clock for 5 seconds, then shut off. This can be done with the ignition on or off. In the PSM menu, the clock can be set to display with the unit on or off, only turning off when the ignition is turned off ("keyed" operation).
- Display/Button Illumination Dimmer: The display and button illumination dimmer can be set to Off (normal brightness at all times) or On (display and button illumination is always dimmed). Note that the amount of dimming is fixed; it cannot be adjusted.
- Disc Protection: If the ejected disc is not removed within 15 seconds, the disc is automatically inserted again into the loading slot to protect it from dust. The source will change to CD, and the disc will begin playback, even if you have another source selected at the time.
- Disc Resume: If you change the source, playback also stops (without ejecting the disc). Next time you select CD for the playback source, the disc will start from where it has been stopped previously.
- Wireless Remote Control: The KD-G140 comes supplied with a wireless remote control (RM-RK50). The remote contains Power, Attenuator, Sound, Source, Tracking and Volume functions.
